This curriculum offered by Cisco for Cisco Certified Network Associate certification which is very comprehensive along with other four separate modules. Included in this module are the learning objectives of the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification exam which is intended to be known first step in acquiring the CCNA certification. In this curriculum, it is very much emphasized the decision-making and problem-solving techniques that are very important especially to resolve networking issues.

First and foremost, any students who are in this curriculum will be taught regarding the installation and configuration of Cisco routers and switches in networks that are both local and wide-area that are using different protocols. In addition, they would also learn how to provide Level I service when it comes to troubleshooting and as well as the improvement of network security and more especially performance. Further, this curriculum also provides training in helping the student especially in terms of taking care, maintenance and usage of networking equipment and software tools.

It is known that the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification course is mainly taught to secondary and post-secondary levels. The said curriculum features modules like Routers and Routing Basics, Networking Basics, Intermediate Routing, Switching basics, and WAN technologies.

In the realm of the Networking Basics module, it covers topics primarily on Cabling WANS and LANS, Ethernet technologies, routing fundamentals and basics of TCP/IP and IP addressing.

On the other hand, the Routing Basics module includes topics like routing protocols, basics of router configuration, access control lists, TCP/IP concepts, and networking troubleshooting skills.

For the Intermediate Routing and Switching Basics module, it cover topics switch concepts and configuration and spanning-tree protocol among others, while the WAN Technologies module explains several topics including frame relay.

The coursework that is offered for the CCNA helps a student especially in the preparation and for the CCNA certification. One can choose among two options when taking the CCNA exam either by the single comprehensive exam or the two-part route when it comes to the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND) exams and the Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO). Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND) exam focuses on the use of Cisco catalyst switches and Cisco routers that are connected both in local-area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs) normally found at small to medium network sites. On the other hand, the Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO) is a training recommended for people who are looking for knowledge and understanding of networking fundamentals such as the open systems interconnect (OSI) seven-layer model concepts, technologies , and terminology.

With the use of the Cisco certification, it would serves as a validation of a person’s achievements which in turn increases an individual’s professional reputation and credibility when it comes to the fundamentals of networking.
