Among the other ways of passing the CCNA exam is by using the Cisco simulator which would prepare would prepare you for the certification. The most important factor that one must consider is having the practical hands-on experience in the Cisco IOS configuration that reckons itself important so that one would pass the CCNA exam and have the CCNA career. Practical people would advise you to use new or used Cisco routers and switches that can be hooked in their homes as practice labs rather than purchasing the real one which is apparently costly. So here are some pros and cons in using CCNA simulator that would prepare you for the CCNA exam.

PROS:

• Affordability of the Cisco simulator

This serves as the major reason that is why most people make use of the CCNA virtual lab rather than by using the real one which is indeed expensive. For those students who would want to take the exam, buying the real one would make in not very feasible and possible for them. On the other hand, if one would choose to buy the Cisco simulator, it would only cost $150 and below which is a cost effective option.

• Built in lab scenarios

If you think that the Cisco virtual lab is only a composition of simulation, you are wrong since this simulator also contains training materials that are very useful as part of the preparation for the CCNA certification exam. A CCNA virtual lab package can be tagged as good if it is has built in scenarios which serve as step by step guide for you to be able to apply the commands as they are done the right way. Highly qualified instructors are the writers of these instructions.

• Convenience

If you are going to use the real lab, you can only use it at home which means that you can only use it once you are not doing things at home. Unlike the real lab, the Cisco simulators program gives you so much convenience because of its portability. You can actually install it in your laptop which means you would be able to bring learning and learn at the same time by this one, not only that, you are not required to be connected in the internet for you to be able to see it. This is very beneficial especially for those CCNA students who only have a limited time to study for the CCNA exam.

CONS:

• Incompleteness
Despite the pros that we can derive from the Cisco simulator, still it has some flaws that one should consider. The most apparent flaw of this is its incompleteness. This CCNA virtual lab is not able to possibly simulate almost all the portions of the Cisco IOS and at the same time it cannot also fully support all the commands in the real IOS. Therefore, we can only consider the CCNA virtual lab as a training aid. The CCNA virtual lab is more than sufficient provided that you are only using it for the CCNA. However, if you really want to completely explore all of Cisco switches and routers’ function, what you would need is using a home lab.
